This is very irritating feature of AIM when you sign in, it opens aim home page. You can disable it by going to Edit -> Settings -> Sign in / Sign Out and select None instead of Aim Zone.

Youtube has changed its old logo (well only the color has changed from red to green)

The new logo is visible on all youtube regional sites and it looks this may be permanent, unless today is some special day which I am not aware of. Personally I will say, I liked the old logo color as red looks much better then green, but then may be its just me.

If your host is still running php 4 and some of your applications and programs are not working as they are using some functions only supported in php 5, you have two options, either to upgrade your hosting php from php 4 to php 5 or install php 5 as fastcgi and then use it. (if you are not able to understand some terms then still keep reading)

If you are on a shared hosting, the chances of your php upgradation are nil so if you need php 5, you need to change the host but if you are on VPS then you can have both php 4 and php 5 as you can use php as fastcgi. This is perfect when you have sites running on php 4 and you are worried that by upgrading some of the sites may not work (even though php 5 is very much backward compatible).

I was wondering if today is 15th of March 2009, how can I get all the content that is created yesterday ? or say last in last week ?

If the info is date specific, say an event and I need to get all the content created about in chronological order,then how can this be done ? ofcourse for google, this is no big deal, they have their index and just need to provide an interface which allows you to search for content created (or indexed as date of creation can’t be found by google search in most of the cases) on dates.

Google had announced on 12th February on their youtube blog post that they are offering download service for some of their videos, both as a free service as well as paid so now users can allow their videos to be downloaded officially for a certain fees.

So far, google uses creative commons license for their videos to people can download any youtube videos for free directly from youtube through various methods or using 3rd party service like keepvid.com. Now it seems google is looking to change the licensing terms and they won’t be offering videos for free which means downloading videos or providing services to download videos will become illegal.

Sometime back I had wrote about how you can Download Youtube Videos in one Click using IDM. Now IDM is not the only way for downloading videoss in 1 click. Firefox has this great addon named DownloadHelper which really ease up the process of downloading embedded videos as well as streaming videos from any website if your browser is firefox.

As always, just install the plugin and restart firefox. Now while browsing, if you ever see a am embedded video, you should see a google like 3 ball sign on the top left corner of it. Just click on it and you should be able to download the video (it has many settings options too which you should look at)

Wordpress offers various plugins (some as old as wordpress) to show related links at the bottom of the post. Now the problem with having many plugins offering similar functionality is that you never know which is the best ? If you see wordpress stats, the most downloaded wordpress related links plugin is Wordpress Related Posts Plugin which has been downloaded 75,000 tmes (the actual stats will be many times higher as the plugin is also available at many places to download).

I have used Wordpress Related Plugin in the past and it looks good enough but it is certainly not the Best related links wordpress plugin. It is popular because it is old and does what it says.
