How to Stop Self Pings in Wordpress Blog

As a wordpress blog owner, it can be really frustrating when you link to one of your older post and you sees a self ping as a comment shown in your admin dashboard.

Self Ping are both good and bad and are equally liked and disliked by webmasters. One thing about them is that it can increase the number of page views and interconnection between your blog posts but many webmasters also feels that it is not necessary specially when you are using related posts plugins, which shows 5 related posts at the bottom of every post. Also self pings looks very intrusive and probably don’t add lot of value too.

Wordpress Plugin to Show Images with Adsense on Pages

First thing first, I have written lot of articles on wordpress :) and I will be putting them on the blog regularly, ideally 2 per day. Its just that I need to finish it (this blog has currently 184 posts and over 200+ drafts, most of them are just titles though)

So if you have visited sites like thesuperficial which are celebrity blogs and covers lot of images, you must have noticed that each image opens in its own wordpress window i.e. when you click on image, it takes you to new page which has the image, not to the actual image. This is done by most of the big blogs as well as newspaper sites as they make money from CPM ads, so more the pages are viewed, the more money the site makes.

Problem with Digg and Canonical URL

It seems the buzz around Diggbar is refusing to die and I see more and more webmasters talking about it.

Now here is an interesting thing about Digg, as per them, they are not stealing your content and link juice as they are using canonical tag which is now supported by all major search engines. Now what digg is doing is say if the story url is http://digg.com/d1oRKV it is asking google to not index that page and telling search engines to pass all link juice to that example.com which has the original story. List of Freelance Sites

I had started on the web as a freelancer making money online through various websites. I started as a Programmer, CMS coder and then moved on to do tech writing (just for fun) and have done almost all kind of work as freelancer, even server management back in college days.

Working as a freelancer can be great for you if you are the right person and are in right frame of mind. For me, it works because this lifestyle suits me and I had always hated those 9 to 5 jobs where way too much time gets wasted in doing things which are irrelevant, not to mention the commuting time and by the time you get back to home, you are tired like anything.
