Why I uses Partial RSS feed over Full RSS Feed ?

Right from the start of this blog, I am using partial RSS feed and though lot of professional bloggers switch from partial feed to full feed once they get established, I am very much fine with showing partial feed. Here is my reasoning why I prefers partial feed over full rss feed and why you too should stick to partial feed too -

1. if you have a new blog, there is good chance of people stealing your content and outranking you in Google due to their authority. Sites like zimbio are very much based on rss feeds only and I have seen the same content on zimbio outranking the original content, which is a real shame.

Stop getting your RSS Feed Indexed by Google

rss-feed Sometime back I had mentioned that why you should avoid submitting your rss feed to feed directories and news aggregator sites as they uses your RSS feed and your content and outrank you. Now there is another problem with rss feeds and that is that even Google also index the feed content and even shows in its results which is not something we want, ideally we want our original blog posts to be shown in Google results.

So what you can do is, you can stop Google and other search engines to index your feed items by using nofollow tag.

Block Less Quality pages from Search Engine Crawling using Robots.txt

This is a small SEO quality tip which I want to give you all which probably don’t make lot of direct impact on any site ranking but improves the overrall quality score of the site in the eyes of search engines.

And that tip is to Block all Less Quality and unwanted pages from search engines by using robots.txt. For example, I had lot of less quality pages on MWolk specially through free proxy submission which were just having link and little content and these pages were making 50% of the total number of pages indexed in Google for me. Now Google often deindex such pages and there was a threat of these pages getting deindexed and eventually effecting more quality pages of the site, not to mention, I wasn’t getting any traffic from search engines anyway through these pages so I blocked all of them through robots.txt.
