firefox by default opens the pdf files in the browser which basically launch the whole adobe acrobat reader by loading all its plugins and on computers with less memory, this can take anywhere in between 15 to 30 seconds and is really irritating.

Now with firefox plugin PDF Download, pdf files will never open in firefox but wenever you click on a pdf link, you will get a popup asking you where to download the pdf file.
