It patches little holes in wordpress which are often used by spammers and hackers to get into your wordpress blog like removing wordpress version, removing directory listing of plugins, removing various udpate information about plugins etc.

2. WP Security Scan - WP security scan allows you to check your wordpress installation for database security, file permission security vulnerabilities etc, many of its feature overlap with secure wordpress plugin but still you can install both.

3. Askapache Password Protect - This is a plugin used to protect hacking on your blog based on previous hacking done on other wordpress blogs. The plugin do not update any file or database but relies on server data to keep itself updates and to prevent your blog from getting hacked by wordpress vulnerabilities which caused hacking on other blogs.
