Between the different genres of games, adventure computer games generally feature a game where the player is placed into a world of adventure where he/she must then complete some sort of quest. These quests typically include rescuing a princess, defeating an evil lord, or finding your way back to your home planet.

What distinguishes an adventure game from, say, an action game, is that adventure games tend to focus less on live game play and more on exploration. Adventure suggests that the player be plopped down in a situation and through the exploration of the various levels and lands, find their way through.

Adventure games are different from RPGs (Role Playing Games) in that they are a bit more straightforward. By that I mean that they end to guide you in the direction you are supposed to be going. RPGs tend to need guides to compete, as they kid of let you do your own thing, but at the same time let you get lost and miss important games items and so forth.

Adventure games are not typically found online, as most online games are made with Java or Flash, and are typically intended to be the “pick-up-and-play” types of games where no progress is saved. With Adventure games, the saving of progress is quite and important part of the game.

Adventure computer games are usually grouped in with Action games, therefor being classified as Action/Adventure. This is because while exploring the lands, they typically have you attacking things on the run, which is pretty self-explanatory.Some fun adventure computer games include:
