Apache Crashing due to Excessive Memory usage - Sites not loading Problem
If your on a shared host or on VPS and you are noticing that your site is getting down often giving connection timeout then the chances are your Apache process has crashed and you need to restart apache. Crashing of apache is very common problem with VPS hosting, the moment your servers gets lot of connection or your memory usage gets high, apache will stop and your site will get down.
Here is a screen shot of my old server which had 512 MB RAM and I had taken this pic when the server was down with apache got killed due to excessive RAM usage, in the pic you can see almost all of 512 MB RAM has been used.
Anyway I am making this post to tell you from my past experience that if you start seeing your apache getting crashed, its a good indication that you should look to upgrade your hosting plan or move to dedicated server. Hosting nowdays is dirt cheap and you can spend $100 on dedicated server as it will give your readers a better experience with pages loading fast.
