If you are wondering what is ATAPI, it stands for Advanced Technology Attachment with Package Interface. It is a standard type of connection used to connect your computer CD-ROM drives, hard drives, DVD-ROM, Floppy Disk drive and other computer components like RAM, Motherboard and VGA etc. It is the standard which was developed by Western Digital and maintained by the International Committee for Information Technology Standards and is also known as the X3. The ATAPI cable consists of 40 strongly packed ticker tape as its width; this ticker tape terminate in 40 pins at each end of the strip. All these pins are plugend into a socked of 40 cylinders. ATAPI also provide the most efficient method of serial communication. But unfortunately ATA cable allows only 18 in to 36 in. This size limitation of ATA cables make its usage for certian specific harwares.

Due to its limited length, they are only used for internal wiring. So there are different versions of ATAPI available in the market which can effectively help you in creating a managed computer internal data wiring system. These are also available in different qualities accoding to it type and usage. For example, floppy disk have a small area ATAPI and those which are used for DVD-ROM and Hard disk of larger area.
