Backup Gmail emails

I am a google mail power user and knows people who stores way too much content on it, including all emails and chats etc. Since I also uses gmail account as backup of my other email accounts (I forward them to my gmail account), it becomes very important for me to not lose all this information.

Now I know the chances of me changing gmail password and not able to remember the new one are very rare but this can happen as I know this happens with almost everyone. So if you are not able to remember your gmail password and can’t retrieve it using recover password settings, you can lose all your gmail data, emails, chats etc.

To avoid such unwanted situation, you may like to take backup of your gmail emails and settings as for most gmail users like me, it can be a big setback to lose all that.

To counter such an eventuality with other clients, gmail.com came up with software called Gmail Backup which lets you save your entire gmail account along with your settings, labels, contacts and of course your mails in the inbox, drafts and the sent items. Since its inception and initial release in 2008, the tool has gone through a lot of improvements and bug removal and is one of the best to Backup Gmail emails and its settings.

The latest version is the 0.107 which is far less risky than the original 0.01 version of the tool. The setup is very easy and so is its configuration. Anyone who can log in to gmail can do it without any problem. The good thing is that you can open your mails in any mail client program like the outlook express or Mozilla Thunderbird and a list of file ids is also prepared by the tool in txt format for reference as well so locating a mail will not be a big problem.

For those who suffer from limited hard drive space and a large buff of mails, this tool offers the facility to directly create backup in zip format for safe keeping and later usage. This could prove to be the most ideal tool for your email backup.
