IrfanView is full featured and very light weight image viewing and casual editing software. This tiny freeware supports a huge list of file formats, which is highest, compared to any other related tools. Not only that, IrfanView can even opens text files and lets you to save it as image. You can acquire images directly from scanner.

One of the most useful features of IrfanView is Batch Conversion and Rename. It helps you to change image format, resize or rename thousands of images on the fly. You can open the Batch Conversion window under file menu or just by pressing shortcut key B. You can also do casual editing like, adjusting brightness and contrast, color correction, gamma correction etc with few inbuilt effects like emboss, oil paint, blur, explosion etc. Also, just with a single click you can do red eye correction.

This is not yet over with IrfanView, apart from images, it supports media files like 3GP, MP4, MP3, FLC etc. but you need to install apple quick time plugin. Also, IrfanView lets you to run image slideshow and can even accept txt file for image source.
