Wordpress blogging software has in the box seo features and among all the CMS’s I have seen, it seems wordpress requires least work as far as SEO is concerned and with the hundreds of plugins it offers, wordpress blogs can be easily built fully seo friendly in matter of minutes.

Here is the list of 10 Best SEO Plugins for wordpress which you should install -

1. All in one SEO plugin - By far the best wordpress plugin for SEO and a must. Infact this may be the only plugin which you will be needing. It handles all the meta information, you can customize it as well individually set it for every post. Check out this video to see how does all in one seo plugins work.

2. HeadSpace2 - I haven’t used HeadSpace (now called HeadSpace2) as I am using All in one seo but looking at the features of it, it looks to very powerful and feature rich. 3. Platinum SEO Pack - Platinum Pack is another SEO plugin for wordpress offering similar features like AllinOne and HeaderSpace of allowing you to set meta information.

4. Robots Meta - Robots Meta tags offer you to add noindex, noarchieve on blog posts very easily. Its a great plugin to have to stop any page getting indexed or cached in google.

5. Redirection - Though wordpresss itself offers enough 301 redirect if you edit the pages, but many times you may like to redirect more then 1 page to other page using search engine friendly 301 redirect, in that case you can use Redirection plugin which easily redirects old urls to new urls.

6. SEO Image Plugin - Google images can also give really good traffic for blogs which have lot of images and for this there is SEO Image wordpress plugin which adds ALT and TITLE tag to all images (again wordpress already offers this) but still you can give this module a try.

7. KB Robots.txt Plugin - Robots.txt file is used to give direction to web crawlers and bots and using this plugin, you can easily edit robots.txt file and set rules instead of manually editing it. Do note that you can’t use this if the blog is not in root directory as robots.txt file has to be root directory to work.

8. Sitemap Generator - I don’t think wordpress blogs really need sitemap generators still you can have one if you want to if you feel google is not indexing your content properly.

9. Ultimate Tag Warrior - UTW or ultimate tag warrior is a tagging plugin and is often recommended to increase the relevancy of keywords on page and to connect related pages.

10. SEO Post Link Plugin - SEO Post link wordpress plugin removes stop words like a, an, the, in the url which are often considered bad in urls. Please look in the wordpress repository to find the latest or more feature rich version of this plugin.

11. SEO Smart Links - This plugin interconnect your posts for certain keywords so whenever you mane new posts with those keywords, your older posts gets connected with these keywords.

12. YARPP - Yet Another Related Posts Plugin is an excellent plugin to show related posts at the bottom of every posts. This helps in adding more related content on the page and interlinks related posts of your blog.

13. Tag Cloud - Personally I am not a great fan of these tag clouds but still if you want to use them, you can give it a try to New tag cloud wordpress plugin

14. WP Nofollow Categories - WP nofollow categories plugins nofollows category pages hence they dont’ get crawled by search engines avoiding the content duplication.
