Bing Search already started giving traffic
Bing, Microsoft’s new search engine (msn search with renamed name) is getting lot of coverage and surprisingly, I am seeing lot of traffic from Bing on MWolk Blog. Here are the awstat stats of this week
now of course since live.com is redirecting to bing.com, so it can be said this is same msn search but still these are health signs. MSN loves blogs and fresh content, so this can be one reason why the site gets good traffic too.
With Bing, Microsoft is again looking to enter into multi billion dollar search market where Google has monopoly and enjoys market share of anywhere from 65% to 95% in various countries. Microsoft is looking to spend around USD $100 Million in print and digital advertising for Bing to make search users to move to Bing.
To me, Microsoft kind of missed the train by at least 5 years. What they are dong now should had been done in 2004 if not before. But anyway they have money and can still make dent in Google’s Search market. Competition in Search is certainly good as with yahoo’s current problems and with cuil failure Google was having no competition. With Bing, Google will also stay on its toes.
