To block your phone number from being visible you will need to place a Block Caller ID option on your phone line. To accomplish this there are a few different ways in which you can have your phone number made not visible.

One such method is considered permanent. To enable this form of block caller ID you will need to inform your local telephone company. They may charge you a small fee for placing the caller ID block. To make your number visible all that you need to do is dial *82. This will remove the block caller ID shield from your phone. If you want other particular numbers to have access to your blocked phone number, then you must repeat this *82 procedure for each and every number.

Another form of block caller ID to be used is the per-call blocking. With this type of blocking, you will need to dial *67 prior to dialing the actual number. Once you have placed this block caller ID system in place, you should be aware that as soon as you conclude your call the block will be removed. Thereafter for any other calls that you desire to screen in this manner you will need to dial the *67 code.

However in spite of this precaution there will be times when using the block caller ID system fails to work. These times are when you are calling the emergency services, making toll free calls and making calls to some companies. Toll free calls can be detected even if you are using a form of block caller ID due to the use of a device called Automatic Number Identification.

However, should by chance a company get hold of your phone number in spite of the block caller ID placed on it, they can not divulge or use this number. Also by law they are required to inform you of the fact that they are in possession of your phone number.

With this software you can make sure that you do not have to worry about your number being accessed by unwanted callers. The advantages of having a block caller ID system means that you no longer have to worry about receiving messages from unknown people who have somehow gotten hold of your phone number.
