Boot Sector Virus

A boot sector virus is a virus that changes a typical boot sector code with its own preprogrammed malicious code chosen by its programmer. Since the boot sector code is automatically loaded every time a computer starts booting, this form of viruses can be unbelievably dangerous and destructive.

In many cases it can be very hard to remove it properly. As the virus loads itself into the system memory as soon as the computer begins to boot. This virus can easily spread to every single drive of the infected system and to other computers as it falls into their contact.

The boot sector must meet a standard to be called as a boot sector. There must be  a signature of 0xAA55 as it’s the two final bytes. An improper signature can cause an error, and the system may not start booting. This caused by a number of reasons, which including a boot sector virus or a corrupted boot sector because of a physical error on the drive.

One of the most usual ways of the spreading of a boot sector virus infection is by leaving away an infected disk in the disk drive of your PC. So that when it starts again, the systems BIOS reads the boot record volume of that infected disk and gets the virus.

It then passes it onto memory. From here it then starts to spread to all other drives, & to other disks that are inserted in the disk drive. Boot sector viruses also spread through networks, Still if it is not controlled, it may even get transmitted via an email attachment and do further damage to other systems.

You need a good anti-virus program for Removing a boot sector virus .These boot sector virus cipher the systems boot sector as they infect it, hence it makes the removal process quite complex and difficult. A good antivirus program with an up-to-date registry database of many different boot sector viruses can carefully remove the virus from your system without doing damage to your boot sector.
