Change and Remove Windows Shell Extensions using ShellExView

When you right click on any file icon or on desktop, it shows a list of options. These are called Shell Extensions which are nothing but COM objects. It gives users to access various Windows functions quickly and easily. Meanwhile, Windows applications are also using this COM objects to provide users a better and fast access. For example, if you install Microsoft Office on your system then simply right click on your desktop and go to the NEW item where you’ll get a list like “Microsoft Word Document”, “Microsoft Excel Worksheet” etc. So, without opening Microsoft Word, you can make a doc file. These menu items are created using shell extensions.
