This is one of the beginners tip but can trouble many people. By default, firefox saves files in user -> your name -> downloads folder (in vista) and like me, many people want to save the files on desktop and then move them to other folders, so if you want to change the default download folder for firefox, do this -

Go to Tools -> Options -> Main and change the folder for save files to option (use browse to find your folder)

This should do the job for you. its pretty simple but I know many who just can’t find the option to change default firefox folder
