Often we are unable to find some great songs from dad’s audio cassettes in digital formats like CD/ DVD. In such cases you can convert those songs from audio tape to MP3. May be you are thinking it’s a hard process, but don’t worry just follow steps mentioned below.

• In order to convert audio tape to MP3 first of all you need 2 tools – a 3.5 mm male to male stereo audio cord and a good quality walkman. • Next, you need to have a good sound recorder software. I’ll suggest you to download cross platform and 100% free audio editing tool Audacity. Download Audacity from here and install it.

• To export the recorded song in MP3 format, you need to install LAME MP3 encoder. It’s also free and you can download it from the above like or click here.
• Now you are ready to start recording your audio tape. Plug one end of the audio cord to your walkman and another end to the “Line In” port of your computer. You can find the Line In port just after the audio jack, which is connected to your speaker.

• Now insert any cassette on the walkman and open Audacity and go to Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O. Here select the audio input source as Line In.
• Now just play the cassette and start recording using Audacity.

That’s all. Now you can convert all your favorite audio tapes to MP3 whenever you like. Additionally, you can also put effect on the recorded song and adjust sound as per your requirements.
