Many premium blogs nowdays offer to download the blog posts in pdf format for better printing. If you are also looking to offer similar feature onto your blog, you can use Article2pdf wordpresss plugin.

Article2PDF is a utility plugin for wordpress which can export any post or page to a PDF file and on demand it can be moved to the browser as well. For this plugin you can set any PDF document to act as a template. The easiest method to generate a PDF template is using Open Office. Simply you can take a single page document and set the headers and footers or whatever you like to add. Once you are done first of all save it as an editable Open Office document and then export as PDF file. Now, you can use Article2PDF plugin to upload that file and select that as the default template. Also, you can change these templates time to time as per you requirements, only you need to remember to set the default template.

PDF templates and options are customizable and you can configure as per you need at the Article2PDF’s admin page. If you need you can also setup links, images, tables and other regular formatting for the output PDF file.

This plugin also has multilanguage support (currently English, Deutsch, Espanol and Romanian). If you are using this plugin, keep one point in mind that not to send generated PDF files to search engine spider as it may cause duplicate content.

Here is a little advice, to avoid content duplication, you may like to block the paths of pdf urls from robots..txt as you don’t want search engines to crawl these pages. You should do the same with print option too (if you are using any wordpress print plugin) as these plugins create exact same content page with different urls which confuses search engine crawlers.
