This is not a new feature but can be really handy for people who are addicted to feed readers and want to follow occurrences of news about something. Normally what people do is they go to google news and search for the news, now not only this is inefficient but useless if you don’t know when the news is going to happen or when you are looking to follow a long time period in future or looking to track lot of news items.

So what you can do is, you can use Google News Alerts by feeds and you can subscribe that news alerts feed to your feed reader program. Now whenever something happens related to your news item, the feed reader will show it.

To use Google Alert News Feed, go to Google Alerts Page and Create the alert. By default, it will create an email alert so after creating it, edit the alert and in the Deliver to drop down, select Feed instead of email. You can also select different type instead of comprehensive and make it news. Now save it.

You should be able to see a feed icon and view in google reader message. Just click on feed icon and it will take you to the url of your news feed alert. You can either use Google reader or any other feed program to access feed alerts.
