Data Error Cyclic Redundancy Check

Data Error Cyclic Redundancy Check problem occurs within the main operating component of a computer. It means that there was a problem with the function that insures data is being transferred safely from one area to another.

When the computer performs the check on the data being transferred, it checks for consistency. If it is damaged, then it can tell that the cyclic redundancy check is not working properly. If it gives you the “Data Error Cyclic Redundancy Check”, then that means the data being transferred is most likely corrupted and an error is resulting somewhere therein.

The most frequent occurrence of the data error cyclic redundancy check happens when attempting to load data from a CD or DVD that has been damaged in some form. A precursor to receiving this message will be a crunching sound or similar buzzing sound the CD or DVD will makes when being read by your CD/DVD drive. The sound is caused be your CD/DVD drive trying to read the DVD several times, each failing because of the corrupt or damaged data. This may also occur if you attempt you load a file that had been downloaded from the internet or acquired from somewhere that may be corrupt either from an incomplete download or other type of file inconsistency.

There are multiple ways of preventing this error message from showing up, and they all have to do with fixing the source problem. If it seems as the the CD/DVD you are trying to run is causing the problem, then a method you may try is ejecting the disc and then gently cleaning off the bottom with a soft material, such as a microfiber cloth or something similar. Then try re-inserting the disc and seeing if the error message ceases to exist. If it still comes up, then the data may be permanently inaccessible. If you get this error message any time you try to run any CD/DVDs, then your disc drive may either be incorrectly connected (loose cables) or may be faulty or have gone bad.

If the error shows up when you try to open a downloaded file, try re-downloading the file from the internet. If you’re running on a slow connection such as 56k dial-up, it may be advised to use a download manager with larger files. In fact, download managers may help any user in makng sure their download in completed before they try and open it.
