Direct TV is one of the satellite TV providers in the United States. Direct TV uses DBS technologies for broadcasting Satellite signals. It provides variety of channels including HD programs, Movie channels, Audio channels, Sports, News channels etc. Direct TV is the major competitor for Dish Network. Direct TV has acquired more than 18 million customers since June 1994 after its launch.

Direct TV operates primarily with the 101° orbital space and since named as ‘The 101 network’. Direct TV apart from providing residential Satellite TV service, had been providing Direct Satellite TV to RVs, Cars, Mobiles, Airplanes. ‘DirecTV Mobile’ is the Direct TV service to the mobiles while ‘DirecTV Airborne’ is the service to the Airplanes in cooperation with Connexion of Beijing.

Direct TV receiving equipment includes a satellite dish, an integrated decoder and a direct TV access card. The direct TV access card is required to operate the direct TV decoder. Direct TV uses 18’’ dish in elliptical shape. Direct TV on a joint venture with Hughes Corporation, implemented 175 channels from 101° on the usual 18’’ dish. Direct TV access cards are introduced to eliminate illegal decoding of Direct TV satellite signals using other dishes. Direct TV digital card operates with specific Direct TV dish types to allow decoding of the signals, thus eliminates any kind of piracy.

• DirecTV Plus DVR - standard receiver with DVR option , with the recording options
• DirecTV Plus HD-DVR – receiver with HD and DVR options

• Universal Remote - standard remote used widely
• Universal RF Remote - remote with Infra red options, operate even from behind walls.
• Big Button Remote – with larger buttons to operate easily.
