Dish 500

Dish 500 is another model of satellite receiver of DISH Network. Dish 500 is upgraded dish receiver designed after Dish 300. Dish 500 has 21’’ diameter dish. As we know the larger the Dish diameter it would be able to receive more channels, thus Dish 500 was designed larger than to the primitive Dish 300.

Dish 500 can picks up DBS signals from two DBS satellites at a time unlike to Dish 300 which picks up from only one satellite at a time. Dish 500 replaced or upgraded later by Dish 1000 or Super Dish receivers. As we understand that 110°and 119° are the primary location of Dish Network satellites. Dish 500 could pick up signals from both the satellites with its special design at a time.

Dish 500 could provide up to 8 HD channels. But combined with Dish 300 Voom Programming, Dish 500 would provide more than 8 HD channels. Overall Dish 500 is capable of providing 500 channels. Also to force customers to move to Dish 500 from Dish 300, Dish networks provide special TV channels only to customers using Dish 500.

Dish 500 must be set to the required Azimuth (Direction), Elevation (Angle-Up), Skew (Rotation) to work efficiently to receive signals from the DBS satellites. For Dish 500, Azimuth = 247°, Elevation= 25° and Skew=125°.

The Azimuth and Elevation can vary depending on the location of your Dish 300, Please refer the chart here to know the right Azimuth and Elevation of your Zip code.
