You can always download the latest version of wordpress from their download page but what if you want to download old version of wordpress ? say if the current version is 2.7 and you want to download wordpress 2.6 ?

Well you can download the old versions of wordpress from their archive page. They deliberately suppress this page and do not link it from home page as wordpress community strongly feels that using old wordpress versions is not good as it creates compatibility and security issues.

But sometimes its important to use old version, specially the recent most version as many times modules don’t get upgraded to the latest one. For example, I wanted to use a plugin which is only compatible with versoin 2.6 and the latest wordpress version is 2.7.

Following versions are available on Wordpress Page (actually they have all of them but you don’t want to use 1.x versions on production websites)
