FTA, as we already have understood with the help of the earlier article ‘What is Free to Air’. To receive a FTA radio signal one should need a FTA Dish. FTA dish is a receiver helping to receive the Free to Air signals from the atmosphere.

• The FTA Dish receives the un-encrypted radio signals from the air.
• The FTA dishes do not require any pre programming to locate the active transponder in the satellite to receive the signals. It is just because they are pre designed to locate those active transponders.
• With the use of these FTA receivers the user could receive any information in the form of radio signal without being subscribing.
• FTA dish would be designed with knowledge of the frequency, polarity, satellite from which it has to pick up the radio signals. Some dishes are designed to position towards a single satellite and some are designed to receive signals from multiple satellites.
• ‘Feed horn’ is a component that sits at the focal point of the dish receiver, Feed horn in the FTA dish detects the polarity of the radio signal of the specific channel eliminating the unwanted signals from adjacent channels, satellites. Feed horn transmits the signals between the transceiver and the reflector.
• ‘Low Noise Block converter’ in the FTA dish is responsible for converting the radio waves received into the electrical signals so as to pass it to indoor to the TV set via cable lines.

FTA dish or the FTA receiver executes the above mentioned functions in order to get the Free to Air TV channels to your home, just in front of your couch on your TV.
