Get rid of boot.vbs error message and virus

Sometime you may face an error message like “Cannot find script file boot.vbs” while restarting or turning off your computer. Infact it’s caused by boot.vbs virus attack and it’s kind of Trojan. You can easily get rid of this error and virus just in few simple steps as follows …

1. First of all open Task Manager and go to Processes. Here find out and end these programs manually - dxdlg.exe, wscript.exe

2. Now open Registry Editor by going Start > Run > ‘regedit’ (without quotes) and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon

3. Here find select Userinit and double clik. Check the value and change it to “C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe” if you get something different.

4. Now on Registry Editor find out following items and delete entries if exists.

wscript.exe
boot.vbs
dxdlg.exe
wproxp.exe

5. Next remove following files manually

C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscript.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\boot.vbs
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxdlg.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wproxp.exe

If you are getting error while deleting then make sure these processes are not running by going Task Manager -> Process. Also, you can delete from Command Prompt by pressing F8 while restarting.

6. That’s all, now restart your PC and you are safe from Boot.vbs virus.

Also, there is another simple solution if you have any problem with above mentioned steps or system doesn’t allow you to delete those files. Just open Notepad and save a blank file named as “boot.vbs” in your system32 folder or any other path where you’re getting this problem.
