Google has launched their Google TV or gTV 2 days back, so here is my take on it.

First of all, you can watch this video to understand what exactly Google TV is how it is supposed to work.

Now if you have watched the video, let me tell you, this is not a revolutionary product, infact these kind of firmware are there in the market for ages and people already have many options to connect their TV with their computers. Infact if you have a good quality video card which can handle the high resolution of big LCD screens, you can connect the LCD screen to your computer/laptop and watch any video on the screen.

What is new here is, the Google brand which sells like anything. I mean lets be honest, they do have a very big loyal fan club (and there is no reason why they shouldn’t have afterall google has created some great products and services) and the market for Google TV is huge. Also Google has this habit of of making the market products better even if they are not the leaders in it (example - emails, messengers, image hosting etc) so I am assuming they will be bringin lot of new features to their product.

Another unique feature is, Google TV has search feature so you can search videos and watch them on your TV. I am certain that the quality of watching videos through Google TV will be much better as compared to watching videos directly on TV through computer but for that, we need to wait to see peoples review. For the time being, it looks like a Google set top box, that’s it.

We are still waiting for all its features and prices.
