How to get vBulletin License for Cheap or Free

Ok first of all, vBulletin license costs $180 and trying to get it for free by stealing someone else license or trying to use a null VB script won’t work and will only get you more trouble.

What I am talking about is how you can get a vBulletin license in a legal way. Here are few things which can do -

1. 1 year licensing fees of vBulletin costs around $180, now many people buys it but never uses as the idea of running forum, as much great and exciting as it sounds, is not easy to implement. Infact with VB getting thrashed by spammers nowdays, its almost impossible to run a vbulletin powered forum unlesss you have more people to help you run the forum. So with so many people not using vbulletin license, you only have to find such places and you can always starts with webmaster forums.

In webmaster forums, if you start searching for vBulletin license, you should be able to find tons of people looking to sell their valid license (the correct term is “transfer”)

2. Now once you are able to find such people, start contacting them, starting from people who had posted their listing most recently. In a day, you must have got good number of replies, many saying they have sold the license but you should be able to find couple who are still in the market.

3. Now here is your work starts, the first thing you want to do is to make sure that person is not a fraud since webmasters forums are infested with fraudsters. Look at the persons posting history, how old member he is. Also its good to search his used ID in google, since most of the people uses same user ID in all forums, the chances are you can know more about him in this way.

4. Also ask the person to handle you admin login/password as well as should you the licensing agreement as well as date of purchase. A vBulletin license can only be transferred if it is more then 3 months old, so you also want to check this.

5. Its also not a bad idea to call the person by gtalk/skype/yahoo voice, voip calls are very cheap anyway and people who are fraud never talks on phone. Now this is where you can try to get the license for free, buy offering some service to the person. If you are a designer or coder, tell the person that you can design him good logos or can code some functions features for you. I have seen this free thing working many times, and its worth giving a try.

6. In the end, make sure you get all the info related to VB licence from the person including vBulletin forum details, license details etc. This is important as after 1 year of purchasing VB, you need to renew it for $30 and for this you need license number. You will also need it for downloading vB upgrades.

7. Once you get all this sort out, you can pay him the money. Most likely vBullein licenses gets sold for 50% of the price but it really depends as licenses with very little time left don’t’ appeal to many.

If you are low on budget, its not a bad idea to buy vBulletin license second hand from other webmasters as everyone can’t pay $180, though its also not a bad idea to look at other forum softwares too which you may get it for free.
