How to Make Recovery CD

Sometime back I had talked about Recovery Partition and why it is a must and you should never delete it. Just like recovery partition, you should also create a recovery CD for your system in case something crashes and you are required to do the install again in recovery mode. Having a recovery CD can save loads of time and tons of important data and moreover, making a recovery CD is not a big deal and you can do it yourself by following steps below for Windows Vista.

How to Make Recovery CD

[1] Insert a blank CD in your CD/ DVD writer
[2] Now go to Start Menu -> Control Panel
[3] Next, open System Maintenance and open Backup Your Computer

[4] Now select Backup Your Computer from the Backup and Restore Menu and select your CD drive as destination from the drop down list and click next.
[5] Now you can easily backup all your important data through an easy wizard.

Also if you are using Windows XP then you can follow steps mentioned below …
[1] Go to Start Menu - > Program -> Accessories -> Backup
[2] By default the Backup process will start in wizard mode, and you can change it by un-checking the “Always start in wizard mode”.
[3] Now after clicking next, select the “Backup files and settings” option and click next.
[4] Next, the wizard will ask you to choose what you need to backup, you can choose yourself or choose “All information on this computer”.

[5] Now just select a location to create the backup file (bck file) with all backup.
[6] Next, simply write this BCK file on a blank CD.

uhh.. have you read the complaints about windows backup?

People have reported it taking 80 ours for 4 DVD’s worth of data, and the whole thing without progress bar or any other mention that you won’t be able to turn off your computer for several days.

Microsoft has sort of acknowledged the problem in their arrogant “this is unfortunate, but its not really so bad” way…

There’s free backup utilities, that work in a reasonable timeframe.

also, I understand something different under “Recovery CD” more like being able to restore your system to previous state, but not to backup all my data…

For Data Backup, I wish they’d just make a decent clone of Apple’s time machine feature.
