Javascript Void (0)

Javascript void 0 is simply an error message returned by Java when something has went wrong. It also can be used as a void operator that has the same effect as placing a ‘#’ as a hyperlink.

If you have experienced this message as an error, then consider the following potential causes:

  • Pop-up blockers - although they may make it more convenient to browser the web, they may also make it slightly more complicated. Sometimes these may interfere with how your web browser handles things and may cause script to shut down, resulting in errors. If you are frequently encountering this error, you could try shutting down your pop-up blocker. If this doesn’t seem like a viable choice, I would recommend just switching to a new pop-up blocker altogether.
  • Web proxies - Although the anonymity is nice, they may sometime disable script that may result in errors. It’s common for web proxies to have a “remove scripts” option and for it to be enabled by default. Try turning off this option, or try switching to another proxy that doesn’t cause this error.
  • Web browser - At times, all that’s needed for you to do is to upgrade your web browser. If you suspect it may be a problem with your web browser in general, first try this method. If you successfully upgraded and are still experiencing the error, then it may have to do with your preferences. Try going into the options and disabling anything that may be disabling the page scripts, resulting in that error. Also make sure to check to see if Javascript is enabled in your web browser. If this fails, you should be able to customize it so that it just skips giving you the message if it ever does encounter it again. Another tip would be to make sure you have the latest version of Java installed.
  • Bad script - Sometimes you have nothing to do with it, and the error displays just because the page was coded poorly. If multiple people are experiencing this problem, try contacting the web administrator(s) to see if they can sort things out.

After trying a few of these methods, you should be able to resolve any conflicts you may ave been having. If you are still receiving the error, then try switching to a new web browser. If you’re running Internet Explorer, you may try out Mozilla Firefox, a faster and more secure way to browse the web. Good luck everyone!
