Less Ads = More Money in Adsense ?

yes, this is very much true and is often acknowledged by insiders that instead of putting more ads, use less ads and you will have more earnings. The logic is fairly simple, different advertisers pay different amount for every click and those ads which are high paying are shown at the top.

Now if you use only one ad unit with 3 ads in it, lets say they are of $1, $0.75 and $0.5, then for every click you are assured that you will make atleast $0.5 (take the bottom image as an example)

Now suppose if you are using 2 ad units showing 6 ads, then the first 3 ad will be same, $1, $0.75 and $0.5 and the other 3 will be of say something like $0.45, $0.35 and $0.25 so if you get 100 click for using only 1 ad unit and you get 150 clicks using 2 ad units, you will still make more money in 1st case

Also using too many ads is turn off for the users of the site so its often recommended to not use too many ads, instead use mixture of different ad types, say google adsense ad unit, link units and google search.

Couldn’t had agreed more. I owns a blogger account using adsense and feels that less ad will make more money too. Its a pretty straight forward logic actually.

Good idea and advice. But you are using 3 ads in this page. :)

I agree. At first I used two 728 x 90 banners and my cpm was high. I added another banner and 3 text links so I had 6 ads on the page and my cpm became very very low. My ctr remained around the same. Now, I’ve gone to one banner and one text link, so lets see how the CPM is affected. I do believe that less adsense ads = higher paying ads.
