I was just thinking of this that who are the people who have the maximum number of twitter followers after looking at Kevin Rose followers numbers (425k+ but that is expected since he does have a cult figure) so after doing some digging in google search and various other sites, here is the list of current Twitter users with maximum number of twitter followers -

1. CNN - 826,226

2. Britney Spears - 757,397

3. Ashton Kutcher - 729,428

4. Barack Obama - 720,520

5. Twitter - 676,862

6. The Ellen Show - 628,799

7. Jimmy FalloN - 574,729

8. The Real Shaq - 551,215

9. John C Mayer - 539,955

10. New York Times - 519,257

11. Lance Armstrong - 518,671

And the late entrant is Perez Hilton (Nope, not paris hilton) owner of blog perezhilton.com who has gained massive 488,490 in just 2 months which is probably one of the fastest anyone has gained. Ofcourse having a very popular celeb blog does help.

All of these sites are either news or celeb sites and are certainly not maintained by the owners. Some assistant must be managing them and updating the blogs so it will be interesting to make a list of twitter accounts with Maximum number of twitter followers which are actually maintained by the owners.
