mdm.exe
mdm.exe is an executable file that stands for Machine Debug Manager and from its name it’s obvious that it’s used for the debugging process purpose, therefore, it is used in lots of Microsoft applications like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Front page, Microsoft Visual Studio, Visual Studio Express, or SQL server management software as well as it is used by the Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser as its debugger.
The mdm.exe is located in the System subfolder of the Windows’ directory or even in the Window’s directory directly. If mdm.exe was found to be placed in other locations, then this is not the legal mdm.exe that you can trust keeping in your computer and that does the beneficial functions on your computer.
mdm.exe is a Windows NT/2000/XP generic process. And this process is by default installed by Microsoft Script Editor within the Microsoft Office Package or some other previously mentioned Microsoft software kits and for disabling this script you can check the Disable Script Debugging checkbox in the advanced tab in the internet options within the tool menu in your Internet Explorer browser.
Another way to get red of the mdm.exe is through using the MSConfig tool so that to stop mdm.exe from auto starting with your Windows system. It is important to make sure that the previously started mdm.exe with each logged user to the computer is closed afterwards, as the excessive usage of mdm.exe cause a huge consumption of CPU and memory which in turn causes a noticeable slowness in your computer and frequent system freeze up. Unfortunately, the mdm.exe doesn’t auto close with logging off the computer. The mdm.exe leaves lots of temporary files behind it that you should clean by yourself from time to time so that to empty your temporary files folder, you can also rename these files for further usage without affecting the system performance.
As it is commonly known, usually viruses, spywares and malwares disguise in the name of a window’s operating system file name and this applies to the mdm.exe file too. You can check the processes currently running on your computer through the task manager, by clicking Alt+Del+Ctrl, if the mdm.exe appears in these processes be sure it is a spyware, as the operating system dlls won’t appear in your task list. If it is a spyware attacking your computer, it can delete and replace files in your system besides stealing your personal information, so an action of deleting it should be taken immediately
