No Sound in Dell Studio 1535 with Vista

This Post is for people using Dell laptop Inspiron or Studio with Vista on it. I have seen so many users having facing problem with No sound!

I don’t know how but Dell laptops suddenly loses sounds (mostly caused by installing new drivers) due to changed settings and people left wondering what happened ? if you see device manager (in Vista, Start -> Computer and right click on Computer and then click on Manage and then on Device Manager) and see what option you have under Sound, Video and game Controller.

Ideally you should see 4-6 options (depending on hardware) and you should see atleast option related to Audio Codec. If you don’t see that or see Red X against any option, you are having some driver problem. In my case too, when I wasn’t getting sound from my Delll Studio 1535 (some 30 minutes back :) ), I had to reinstall the sound drivers. You can either download the drivers from dell’s website or (better) use the CDs which have come with your laptop. You must have got 6-8 CDs and one of them will be having Dell Drivers written on it. Use that to install Sound drivers and you should be fine.

If it don’t fixes the problem (in many cases the hardware gets damaged!) you may have to call the dell support (be ready to spend 30 minutes!)
