Google Updated PR - 3rd May 2010
Ok, I don’t want to sound like “me too” here but google has updated their visible page rank on 3rd-4th May 2010. By visible, I mean the PR which can be seen in toolbar as the internal rankings and PR keeps on changing regularly but the toolbar ranking only changes like in 3 months.
Though as years are passing by, these PR updates have started to become meaningless with increased focus in personalization and google cracking on all kind of link selling, now webmasters have nothing much to celebrate if their PR goes up.
Footer Links have NO value for Google
In case you don’t know, Google gives more value to links which are higher on the page content as compared to links which are on the lower part and it seems google completely discard below the fold link (the area which you see only while pulling the scroll bar down). The reason being, most of the footer links are either sold links or having the link of the theme and site designers and they are not quality, relevant and organic links, in short, Footer links have no value for google and google do not pass any link juice (or very very little) to make them worth it.
I think these changes are part of crack down on link sellers which were selling tons of links in footer, unfortunately people who buys links don’t understand that they are getting a bad deal as such links have no value.
