Torrentfreak is reporting that Rapidshare has shared the information of a file uploader to the german authorities which are not good signs for the coming days.

Someone in Germany had uploaded latest Metallica album Death Magnetic on Rapidshare and later on his house got raided and police arrested him. Now today it has come to know that it was rapidshare which handled the info of the person to german police.

This was indeed interesting move by rapidshare that they handled the info to authorities as in the past they have always avoided such things, also after what happened in thepiratebay case, may be we can expect more of such file sharing and torrent trackers to handle the info to authorities to avoid criminal charges like thepiratebay founders.

I wonders what will happen if google is asked by authories for providing the log of what people are searching for ? this has happened in the past and google has refused to do it but if they do it, it can open a pandora’s box on internet privacy.
