Google do try to keep track of sites which are known to install trojans and viruses and warns users if they encounter such sites while doing search in Google with this warning, Warning, visiting this website may harm your computer.

Now as a google user, I really appreciates it but if you are a website owner and if google starts showing this message by mistake, this may ring death bells as I have seen huge sites taking knock out punch because of this with their traffic coming down heavily.

Many times the website who gets filtered had no fault of their own, its just that they were on some server with other malicious websites of someone else and as a result, everyone got penalized. Another reason when this happens is when the security of your website gets breached and someone hacks your site and uploads malicious software, code and Trojan.

Anyway the thing is, this warning can give nightmare to any webmaster and blogger if his site and blog starts showing this warning in google search. But it is not that difficult to get rid of it either. You can get rid of it by following 2 Steps

First Step -

Look at your server and site code thoroughly and find where the problem is. Most likely some one has hacked your server so change all passwords,change all database passwords too and infact its not a bad idea to have a fresh upgraded install of your CMS or blogging software too as it will remove the edited infected files.

Second Step -

Once you are sure that your site is clean, you can request Google to review your site by follow steps below …

1. Sign in to your Webmaster Tools account.
2. Select the infected site on the Dashboard.
3. Next on the overview page you will get a link named “Request a review” just click it and follow the instructions.

Google will review you site and remove the warning message if everything is fine on your website.

This whole process can take a week and you may lose some traffic in the meantime but it is for your own good. These things are part of webmaster and blogger life so don’t panic as they happen with everyone.
