How to Reset iPod
It is not advisable to play with the settings of your iPod but still if you ever need to reset it to factory settings, here is an article which will help to reset iPod nano or ipod shuffle settings.
iAlso Pod users know well that sometimes nano/shuffle models goes wild (!), they freezes up with apparently nothing to do to restore it. This can be really annoying. I met some people who waited for the battery to run out in order to reset it but there are much faster and easier ways. Let me show you how to do it.
First, before assuming it is frozen, check if your iPod is not on pause or the hold is not turned on or both. You can check the hold on / off status by searching for the lock symbol on the screen. If it is there it means that all you have to do is to unlock it and everything will work again.
It may look like frozen sometimes when it is connected to the computer. Check for messages like “Connected” and “Sync in process”. If it is not responding for a while just disconnect the cable and plug it back in. This should do it.
If it just gone wild but the buttons still respond try to turn it off and then back on.
If all these tricks don’t do the job go for the final step: keep the center (select) button and menu button pressed simultaneously for about 7-8 seconds. This will give your iPod a general reset even if it’s frozen and doesn’t respond to any other command. Make sure to unlock it first! Even though it will keep your files, some settings will return to factory settings but at least you will get a working iPod.
There is one more option for you: use the iTunes Restore button. Open the iTunes then connect your iPod to the computer. When you press the Restore button you will have 4 options to choose from:
1.Restore – will restore with the same iPod software you already have
2.Use same version – will restore with the same iPod software you already have although there is a newer version
3.Use newest version – restores with the newest iPod software
4.Restore and update – restores with the newest iPod software
You will get a progress bar showing how much of the restore process has completed. You must NOT disconnect your iPod during the restore and update process or you may irremediably damage it!
All the data on the iPod will be deleted so you may want to back-up your files first!
