What is RGB
RGB refers to the primary or basic colors of light that are Red, Green and Blue. RGB is the computer’s default color for capturing and displaying the images. It is a fact that human eyes are more sensitive to these three primary colors. All the other colors are perceived by everyone as a combination of the three colors red, green and blue. A Cartesian coordinate system which RGB color model is based on is considered to be an addictive model with a combination of red, green and blue in numerous methods and together they form different colors. However, in the RGB model, every color appears as it is in its primary form of red, green and blue.
Basis of Primary Colors According to Biological Aspects
Human biology has deprived these three primary colors. These colors are related to the human psychological response of their eye to light. There are photoreceptor cells present in human eyes which give the most efficient response to the color green (M or medium), bluish-violet (S), yellowish- green (L) with light (max. wavelengths of 534 nm, 420 nm and 564 nm respectively). Based upon the variation present in the signals the human brain can recognize and distinguish a large number of colors without facing any difficulty.
Displays and RGB
A commonly used application of the RGB model is the colors displayed on LCD, plasma display, CRT, computer monitor or on television screens. The display has each pixel in an interface which can be identified (for example, the commonly used graphic cards) as the values of red, green and blue. These values of RGB and then made change into the various intensities and used for displaying purposes. In addition, scanners and cameras also actually work just like them.
Representation of RGB in Numbers
A color is shown in RGB by indicating the quantity red, green and blue should include in each ingredient. Every ingredient may vary in the minimum to the maximum that is (no color to full intensity). There will be black displayed if the used colors are at the minimum value. Similarly, when colors are at their maximum stage of value then the color will appear as white. But there is no certain pattern or method by which the colors can possibly be displayed. The values of color can be indicated in numbers ranging between 0-225. Usually computer programmers use this representation to store every color in an 8-bit byte.
