run.exe
run.exe is severe security risk on your operating system, as the run.exe is not a Microsoft Windows operating system executable file nor any other useful executable file from another platform other than Microsoft Windows, but rather, it is classified as a downloader, a harmful downloader, that is concerned only with downloading viruses, spywares, malwares, worms or Trojans to your operating system.
This undesired, harmful program is usually added by a worm called W32/Rbot-BWF worm. This W32/Rbot-BWF worm is connected to a remote IRC server waiting for the command of execution to begin its harmful actions and stealing on your operating system. The run.exe process allows monitoring all you operating system actions, recording all your keyboard’s key strokes, creating screenshots for your monitor, it goes to the extent of recording the sounds from your computer’s microphone and keeping it in a sound file where this file will be sent out of computer later. It keeps track for your visited internet pages and the applications used on your computer.
You should terminate and delete the run.exe executable file IMMEDIATELY from your system once you noticed it. This process is most probably a virus, worm or Trojan attacking your system and it has to be scanned and omitted from your system permanently preventing your system from severe harms or hackers that can steal your personal information like your passwords or credit card number. You can check how many instances of the running.exe process are running on your operating system by checking your task manager (you can get the task manager by stroking Alt+Ctrl+Del) and find the run.exe process under the processes tab. Once you found the run.exe process in your system processes, right click the process and kill the whole process tree, before scanning your system and letting the antivirus take care of it.
Beside checking the location of your operating system files and making sure they are in their proper locations, always remember this quote: If a “non-Microsoft” .exe file is located in the C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32 folder, then there is a high risk for a virus, spyware, and Trojan or worm infection! So if you found the run.exe process inside your Windows directory and in the System32 subfolder, in that case, the run.exe process had really become a severe security risk on your operating system that has to be detected, disabled and deleted from your system permanently using a powerful antivirus, like, Norton or MacAfee.
