Satellite Cards

What are satellite cards ?  The entire satellite TV system works on the satellite cards that acts as a passport for your identity.  It contains the details of your account and drives the satellite TV system to deliver the service based on your channel selection and quality. These satellite cards have a magnetic strip like that of an ATM card that has some binary codes that identifies you. The code is unique in itself and acts as a gateway for the reception of the service. It is installed in your PC or laptop and enables you to watch selected channels with all comfort.

Function of satellite cards:

a) These satellite cards identifies your unique code, generates a report of your account like name, account balance, validity, channel selection, package selection, connectivity details and other configuration details. After generating this report, it is send across to the satellite TV system after encoding. The satellite TV system decodes the details and provides services accordingly.

b) These satellite cards enable you to maintain your account and perform transactions like activating different or new channels, payment, increasing quality, increasing connectivity, changing selected packages etc. Every time you make any transaction, you are asked for a code for verification. This code is generally provided by satellite TV system for security purpose. You can even change your account details like name, address and even request for relocation or disconnection.

c) These satellite cards provides with locking feature where you can lock certain channels which you think might not be appropriate for your kids. You can assign your own code and every time you access these channels you will require entering the code.

Beware of pirate satellite cards

The act or piracy has reached its peak with people pirating the satellite cards and cracking upon its security. There have been cases reported where two different satellite cards existing with the same identification code and password. In such cases, you might have to pay for some service that you were not entertained with. This act is illegal and you can take action on it. So it is highly recommended to keep changing the login codes and not to share them with anyone. If you ever feel that you satellite card has been pirated, you should immediately let the satellite TV service providers know about it and get your identification number changed.

    I think the best option is just to watch foreign broadcasts. Pirate cards are not that common now as most pirates have switched to ‘card share’
