Satellite Finder
Once you have gotten the correct coordinates of the communications satellite from a satellite finder you can then point your dish in that direction. The first thing that you need to do when you have bought your satellite finder is to read the instructions so that you understand exactly what you will need to do. The next step in making your satellite finder work is to check the connection between the television and that of the satellite.
You will need to connect the satellite cable from the dish to the satellite finder by placing the cable in the LNBF In port. The next step that you will need to take is to hook up another cable from the satellite finder to one of these satellite receiver ports. These ports are: SAT In port, LNBF IN, TO DISH. After you have attached these ports to the satellite receiver you are almost ready to use the satellite finder.
The next step that you will need to take in order to get the best reception from your satellite dish is to plug the television cable to the satellite dish via the VIDEO OUT or TV OUT ports. Once all of these cables have been connected to the right ports you will need to turn everything on.
With all of these cables and setting set on you will need to place the satellite receiver onto the Point Dish screen. Set the satellite finder to the highest possible sensitivity setting. Once the setting has been set you will need to start rotating the dish in various directions until you start to hear a beeping sound coming from the satellite finder.
At this point you should lower the sensitivity setting down until the beeping stops. At this point you will need to start the dish rotating process all over again. You will need to continue turning the dish until you once again hear the satellite finder start beeping again. In between all of this rotating the dish and listening to the beeping from the satellite finder you should check the reception of your television.
You will need to continue this process until the reception from the television becomes clear. The lowering of the sensitivity setting until you hear the satellite finder beeping is called “peaking the signal”.
Also, keep in mind when you are setting up your satellite dish that the dish is viewing the sky at a 30 degree angle higher than it actually seems to be pointing, which means that trees or buildings directly in your line of sight won’t affect the signal.
