There is a nice small firefox add on which shows you the screenshot of the link without opening it. This is good if you are browsing the web from office and want to avoid suspicious looking links and images. Since the screenshot image is shown without opening the image url, it won’t get logged into log files.

This ad-on is designed to let you know what is behind the link before you click it. All you have to do is hover your mouse pointer over the link and a “Linkclue” icon will appear. By resting your mouse on the icon, a small window will up pop which has an enhanced summary of the linked page.

This pop up has a text summary of the content on that link along with a snapshot of the page in question. The other things that it will show are the sizes and dates of linked files, useful stats and metadata and the required next actions such as save, email, download etc.

Once installed you have the options to set as per your requirements and the configurations of your computer and speed of your internet connection. You can choose from slow dial up to broadband for you to play with. Depending upon your PC configurations you have the options to save cookies for faster action in the future.

Currently this ad-on is not available for other web browsers like Internet Explorer, Safari and Opera which is likely to come up soon. So till then you can use this excellent ad-on with your Mozilla Firefox browser. You can get it from here
