Spam on Hubpages
Hubpages which is often compared with squidoo and which has often said that they have better quality and spam control as compared to squidoo seems to be getting filled with spam pages now. There are tons of pages related to India (and created by Indians of course) which contains nothing but spam keywords and phrases.
It seems people use google trends to find what is currently hot and quickly create a page on hubpage with nothing on it but some repeated words along with images and may be some download link and due to strength of root domain, these pages rank very easily. Here is one such page.
I hope hubpages spend some time and effort in looking at all this rather then just seeing the soaring traffic from search engines which probably won’t remain if like squidoo, they too get penalized, which is just matter of time. Also those Indians who are creating these pages in the hope that it will make them quickly rich, they are probably mistaken. These royalties based sites do not give much revenue to the writers, so if you are really serious about making money online, start writing for yourself

1link building on Jun 13, 2009 :
Yes, hubpages is a total fraud company, I have submitted 20 articles to them for my client and they made all the links in it nofollow. Not only this, they also don’t pay any money as they say, so if you want to make few cents for your hard worked articles, go and use hubpages. Good Luck

They have done a bit more recently, and a lot of people are mad simply because they have changed how links are, however that being said, I can say link building, for whatever reason probably didn’t bother to read the FAQ, which have been posted, and has too low of a hub author score. Also, hubpages and Squidoo (both) now have people monitoring the hubs/lenses, with flags and other methods. No, hubpages does not pay money Google does so no accounts to Google and you’ve got a problem.
