Sometime back I had mentioned that why you should avoid submitting your rss feed to feed directories and news aggregator sites as they uses your RSS feed and your content and outrank you. Now there is another problem with rss feeds and that is that even Google also index the feed content and even shows in its results which is not something we want, ideally we want our original blog posts to be shown in Google results.

So what you can do is, you can stop Google and other search engines to index your feed items by using nofollow tag.

If you are using Feedburner feed, select your feed and Go to Publicize –> Noindex (this is the last option on left hand sidebar) and select both options and activate it.This will stop your feed getting indexed by Google. You can also stop your feed getting used by yahoo pipes too through this option.

If you are offering feed from your own site, say http://example.com/feed then you have to use robots.txt to block that feed url.

By blocking feed posts, we are stopping potential scrappers to find the feed through Google search.
