Strep throat is more often referred to as a serious health related problem causing throat infection and severe pain. It may sometimes lead to bleeding in throat. It is suggested that one who is suffering from this disease should immediately consult a physician for medical diagnosis and treatment. Strep throat infection is one of the communicable diseases where a person gets infected just by touching, or talking to the other person. This health related problem is common in people of all age groups kids, teenagers, adults and old everybody experiences this problem. But it has been observed adults are more affected by this problem.
Causes and Symptoms
Strep throat is a contagious disease caused by a bacterium called streptococcus which causes infection in the throat leading to strep throats. This bacterium can stay inside the throat of the person even for weeks or months without even expressing or indicating. Signs and symptoms are observed when a person undergo fever, headache or due to stress caused by low immune system. This disease often leads to swelling of neck glands and formation of pus inside and back of the throat.
Treatment and Diagnosis
Treatment of strep throat is done on the basis of physical examination, symptoms and history of medical patients. The physician, depending on the condition of a patient conducts a strep throat test which is also called as throat culture. While performing this test, substances which are inside the neck and back of the throat are taken with the help of long cotton swab so as to inspect the bacterium called streptococcus.

Treatment of strep throat in adults is usually done by providing medicines such as antibiotics, mild pain killers etc. it is suggested that the person suffering from this disease should continue with the medicines after consulting with the physicians. Strep throat treatment is very important if untreated it might lead to several other health related problems. As it is a contagious disease the person remains infected even after 3 to 4 days of treatment. Physicians also advise to drink fruit juices and water gargles which help in relieving the throat pain.
Another best way to get rid of the strep throat is through maintaining personal hygiene and cleanliness. One should always wash and clean his or hands before or after eating, after coming from work, after coughing and sneezing. An individual can also use tissue papers while sneezing and coughing and those tissue papers should be disposed of completely.
