Super Dish a satellite dish receiver from dish networks with a 36’’ wider. Super Dish is heavier compared to Dish 1000 or Dish 500 and occupies more space in your yard or roof top. Super Dish receiver provides more local channels and international channels unlike Dish 1000 which provides more HD programming with some local channels.

Super Dish provides channels from three satellite locations. Out of the three satellite locations, two are located in DBS spectrum 110° and 119°, the primary orbital space location for Dish networks. The third one is from the FSS spectrum which could be either the 105° or 121°. The DBS spectrum is the band of frequency between 12.2 to 12.7 GHz whereas the FSS spectrum has the band of frequency between 11.7 to 12.2 GHz.

Types of Super Dish: Super Dish has two versions

• Super Dish 105
• Super Dish 121

The Dish satellite located at 105° provides the entire local channel telecasting whereas the Dish satellite at the location 121° provides many international broadcasting. Depending on the customer’s preference Super Dish installation would be set either to 105° or 121°.

Why is Super Dish larger ?

The DBS spectrum operates with higher frequency signals and DBS satellites are located with 9° space between each other DBS satellites. DBS satellites sends high powered signals to avoid interference between the two DBS signals, the dish reflector need to be smaller to receive these high powered DBS signals from 110° and 119°. Hence, the Dish 300 or Dish 500 uses smaller dish to receive the signals from the DBS satellites.

But in the FSS spectrum, the satellites are only 2° apart to each other and to avoid signal interferences; FSS Satellites from 105° or 121° sends low powered signals. To receive these low powered signals accurately we need a larger dish. That is why Super is larger to accommodate the signals from FSS satellites also.
