What is TDMA ? TDMA technology is a mobile phone standard that has been unified into the advanced GSM standard, that is the world’s most widely used mobile phone technology.TDMA is utilized in the second-generation (2G) mobile phones system such as GSM. Third-generation (3G) cellular systems are majorly based on CDMA. 3G provides faster speeds of data transmission over 2G networks.

TDMA system works by separating each digital mobile channel into 3 different time slot within the configuration of the cell network .This is done for the purpose of improving the amount of data being carried, which is done at the same time using the same amount of available resources.
Different users can therefore share up the same channel without making any interference as the signal is split into multiple time slots. Each conversation channel is transmitted alternately over short length of time in TDMA technology

TDMA has made it possible for cellular networks to manage huge load of data transmission without causing a reduction in the overall efficiency of the cellular network. This form of system safeguards & improves the process of channel access & networks prevent the occurrence of as many chokepoints that can happen when signaling back up at the switching point. Thus allowing the network to work smoothly and efficiently, consumers stay happy and the network do not see many internal failures.
