Thunderbird 3 POP Settings Problem
If you have upgraded your thunderbird to the latest version TB3, you must have noticed lot of things have changed as it always happen, when something which you uses daily gets changes, you feel uncomfortable which happened with me and many others.
Here is one Major problem with thunderbird for people who uses google apps is that by default, thunderbird assumes every new account will be IMAP. So if you try to create a pop account, you won’t be able to find any settings but here is one trick to do it.
If you want to set a POP account, disconnect your Internet and then try to create POP account in thunderbird, this time it won’t assume default IMAP settings and will give you options to configure POP.
Another thing which I didn’t liked was the color of new unread emails which became blue. Now on vista, it is almost impossible to see the blue color, not to mention, your eyes are so used to see bold black color. So here is the way, you can change back to original bold black color for new unread mails.
Type %AppData% in the run prompt in Visa, click on Thunderbird-> Profiles -> xxxxxxxx.default folder and create a folder named “chrome” and in this folder, create a file named userChrome.css and put this content in it (this is my userChrome.css)
/* Tree Text Highlighting (folders, thread pane, address pane, etc.)
Highlight focused items, but use black on lightgrey when not in focus */
treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(selected) {
background-color: lightgrey !important;
color: black !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(selected, focus) {
background-color: Highlight !important;
color: white !important;
}
tree[selstyle="primary"] > treechildren::-moz-tree-row {
border: none !important;
background-color: transparent !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-row(selected) {
background-color: lightgrey !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-row(selected, focus) {
background-color: Highlight !important;
}
/* Folder Pane Color for New Mail */
treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(folderNameCol, newMessages-true) {
color: black !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(folderNameCol, newMessages-true, selected) {
color: black !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(folderNameCol, newMessages-true, selected, focus) {
color: white !important;
}
This will bring the old look and feel of thunderbird.
