Translate your site into different languages using Google Translate Script

If you have english content but if you feels it also be helpful for people who are not native english speakers, you can translate your content in other foreign languages. There are many such free and paid scripts available on the web which are using google translate (not the javascript version) to build more pages in your site, which will increase the number of pages on your site many folds and may show the content in search engines too.

so here is a review of all such translation scripts -

1. Translation Script - this translation script is on the web since 2007 and has gone through lot of changes, I am not sure it is currently working or not but you can give it a try as it is free.

2. If you are running wordpress blog, there is a great plugin named wordpress global translator which translate your content into 48 different languages like Italian, Korean, Chinese (Simplified), Portuguese, English, German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Arabic, Russian, Greek, Dutch, Bulgarian, Czech, Croatian, Danish, Finnish, Hindi, Polish, Romanian, Swedish, Norwegian, Catalan, Filipino, Hebrew, Indonesian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Albanian, Estonian, Galician, Maltese, Thai, Turkish and Hungarian.

3. If you are using drupal, they also have a plugin called gtrans, there are many such plugins in drupal but unfortunately none of them provide full functions like what the wordpress plugin do.

Edit - there is also gTranslate but I think it is useless as the “free” version doesn’t allow creating new pages, doesn’t allow any kind of search engine friendly urls or indexing and I am nor even sure what it do which simple ajax code of google can’t do, which you can get it from google itself ? there is a “pro” version for $80 (way too high price as you can get an operating system at this price where as this product is based on a service which is in beta and can be closed anytime!), since the wordpress version is also made by the same user, I am going to say the pro version should work well.

4. Joomla has a plugin called MultiTrans which do the automatic translation, not only using google but also using yahoo bablefish and altavista! I haven’t used it so can’t comment on it how good it is.

5. There is a Paid $25 script from incansoft which do the google translation and build new pages for your site. Unlike the above mentioned free once, this is paid, I have purchased it and was not happy with it. It doesn’t show clean url’s, the author asks you to install zend optimizer and sometimes the script doesn’t work, not to mention there is no installation code for php sites so you yourself has to figure it out how to do it for thousands of php pages.

6. There are couple of scripts on hotscripts.com which claims to be offering the translation service but I haven’t seen any of them working.

If you know any other script, please inform me below, I will add it in the post, if you need some help in installing them, feel free to ask.
