Treating Anorexia

What is anorexia – it is basically a disorder in eating habits and occurs mostly in young girls. They tend to gain lot of weight with light food. Although they might appear thin, they have a feeling of having full stomach and eat very little. They might also start using laxatives to lose weight and thus are adversely affected by eating disorder. There are a lot of cases reported where people have died due to this.
Causes of anorexia: if anyone is highly emotional, having some psychological disorder, break ups or failures, suffers from unstable life tend to suffer from anorexia. They always curse themselves for being overweight.
Symptoms of anorexia: excessive weight loss, not eating properly, fainting regularly, too much or exercise, constipation, complaining of feeling cold, dry skin and loss of hair.
Treating anorexia:
Treating anorexia is considered to be very complicated and perfect eating plan is the key for its treatment. These patients really need help and we need to improve their mental state and make them feel that they are perfect. Some psychotherapy is essential part of treating anorexia and helps them to fight their fears, and makes them more confident. Here are some details about treating anorexia using psychotherapy:
a) The therapy includes improving the mental condition of the patients and wining their thoughts in terms of eating habits. The experts analyze why the patients are not attracted to food and what are their likings. With all these, the experts try to enhance their diet.
b) This therapy uses penalty offers for patients for having food and sticking to diet.
c) Other therapies includes making the patients come in terms with other people and forget their own worries.
Unfortunately there is no diagnosis to detect anorexia. The biggest problem is that the patients never realize that they have any eating irregularity. The package of treating anorexia might span over a year where the patient is gradually diverted and his habits are changed. Because this is moreover a mental problem, there no drugs effective enough to help in treating anorexia.
